The planned introduction of GPW WATS, a new trading system, has been postponed by the Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW).

The recommendation of the recently constituted GPW WATS Implementation Committee to defer the system's debut until the end of 2025 has been accepted by the exchange.

The exchange states that it still intends to provide the new system by June 30, 2024.

On the other hand, the postponed implementation date will allow exchange participants to finish testing and intricate IT customization work.

A member of the GPW management board stated, "We understand that the new trading platform's launch date must be ideal for all project stakeholders."

We have reached a consensus to strive for technical readiness by the end of Q2 2025, with the deployment scheduled for the turn of Q3 and Q4 2025. We maintain continuous communication with the independent software vendors (ISV) and the exchange members, both Polish and foreign.

The exchange's chief executive was replaced a month ago, and the new administration that was elected promised to rid state-controlled organizations of CEOs who were thought to be political appointees of the outgoing ruling party. This is why the postponement occurred.
