With the support of Mastercard's Ethoca Alerts, Worldpay will be able to assist its one million merchants globally in resolving transaction disputes more quickly and with fewer chargebacks.
Ethoca Alerts is a payment brand-neutral early warning system that helps keep disputes from turning into chargebacks and lowers any fraud-related costs.
With industry-wide chargeback volumes predicted to reach 337 million by 2026—a 42% rise from 2023 levels—chargebacks are becoming a bigger problem for merchants.
According to Mastercard, Ethoca Alerts helped stop $1.6 billion in chargeback fraud between 2022 and 2023.
"This partnership with Worldpay extends our powerful technology to even more merchants around the world, reducing fraud," says Johan Gerber, EVP of Cyber and Intelligence at Mastercard.
"We're happy to bring this solution to the market in partnership with Mastercard to deliver more value and innovation to our clients," says Gabriel de Montessus, EVP of Worldpay's worldwide enterprise division.
