This weekend has seen a sharp increase in the value of well-known cryptocurrency tokens associated with video games and gaming chains, some of which have reached all-time highs and others which have reached their highest point in years, all while Bitcoin momentarily recovered beyond $70,000.

The largest beneficiary of this weekend's surge in gaming and metaverse currency prices is the Gala ecosystem's GALA token, whose price has increased 42% in the previous day alone to about $0.08 at this point, according to CoinGecko data. It is now up 230% over the past month and 77% for the week after almost hitting $0.085 earlier on Sunday.

Long-term holders have been waiting for a breakout, but Gala has been busy lately, so there isn't a single, obvious reason for the abrupt surge. On its own layer-1 GalaChain network, Gala recently debuted its GalaSwap decentralized exchange (DEX). This month, the Game Developers Conference will feature a $1 million hackathon sponsored by Gala.

According to CoinGecko, the weekend rise has propelled GALA into the top 50 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. The coin is still more than 90% below its peak price of $0.82 from November 2021, nevertheless.

In other news, this weekend has seen significant increases for both the Ethereum scaler Ronin and the popular cryptocurrency farming game Pixels. Within weeks after the token's launch, the price of the PIXEL token skyrocketed to a new all-time high of more than $0.94 in an instant. It's currently up 63% for the week at $0.88.

With a new peak of over 500,000 daily active users, data suggests that interest in the game is expanding, which is consistent with PIXEL's increase. Additionally, the price of the RON token on the Ronin network reached a two-year high of $4.05 last night.

RON nearly surpassed its all-time high price of $4.29 in January 2022, but as of right now, the price has dropped to $3.70. Still, it has increased by 24% in the last week. Yield Guild Games' YGG token, which is up 64% this week after being revealed as the infrastructure partner for the game's guilds, is another token that is spiraling into the Pixels orbit.

Another noteworthy game token that had an overnight price surge to a new all-time high was PRIME, the token of the NFT card battler Parallel. PRIME has increased 132% in the last 30 days and reached its top early on Sunday at $19.78. The most recent explosion occurred when Coinbase, a well-known cryptocurrency exchange, offered a giveaway to entice new customers, and Parallel became available to all players in beta.

Early on Sunday, the price of the Beam gaming network's BEAM token reached an all-time high of $0.044. The largest gaming cryptocurrency by market capitalization, Immutable's IMX, also surged to a two-year high of $3.62 on Saturday.

The price of Axie Infinity's AXS governance token has increased by 75% in the last 30 days to $13, while Iluvium's ILV token saw an overnight surge to $155, the highest level since June 2022. You can discover significant gains all the way up and down CoinGecko's list of GameFi tokens.

Furthermore, their gains frequently outpace those of Bitcoin, the top cryptocurrency by market capitalization. After breaking beyond that price barrier for the first time ever on Friday, bitcoin surged above $70,000 once more on Sunday. As of this writing, it is down little below $69,500, but the coin has still increased 11% in the previous week.
